30% Accessible - A Survey of The UK Wide Web
Conclusions and Future Hopes
- Plenty of pretty designs
- Designers don't seem to know (or care?) about access
- It isn't getting much better
- Using ALT text helps a lot
But
- HTML 3.2, CSS and other open standards should help
- Publically funded and prominent public web sites should be required to set best practice on access.
- We should encourage web designers to do "the right thing"
- I believe it just takes little thought and little cost to
do this.
