Apple Releases Java 1.4.1 for Mac OS X, Daniel H. Steinberg (O'Reilly Network) - although I don't develop with Java primarily and not with OSX's proprietary Carbon/Cocoa APIs at all, this sounds like a textbook way of making Java part of the OS. Contrast with how Microsoft dealt with MS Windows and Java.
