GNOME - Developer interviews - Daniel Veillard - January 2002
Q: From your past experiences in the W3C how does their organisation and decision making process compare to GNOME's?
A: Well the decision process of W3C has evolved a lot, it used to be relatively lightweight, but is now very heavy. There are definitely things to learn and reuse (keeping archives, minuting decisions, making sure there is a feedback process, etc) but one must be careful of not turning the GNOME project into something similar. The goals of W3C and GNOME are very different, one doesn't build standards and software using the same process.
